Faith Filled Messages for Your Next Church Conference
King’s Park Conference Centre has been the event hub for many over the years, from religious groups to schools; but our roots still dig deep into our foundation as a Christian organisation. This is seen in the prayers we speak for those we welcome, wishing them success in their events, and in the people within our team as they display God’s love through their actions.
As many of our visiting groups are congregations gathering as a church for fellowship time, we wanted to offer you some inspiration that might help you create your next conference sermon. These are based on some Bible verses we love, and we hope you love them too!
Hope in Christ
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13 (The Bible)
This New Testament verse emphasises the importance of faith in the Lord and can spring into so many possible discussion points that may guide your sermon. In today’s modern and materialistic world perhaps, you can use this verse to craft a sermon about how earthly hopes can disappoint, but God’s hope remains secure. This sermon can carry on after it’s completion with a phone-free period where you can encourage participant to connect with each other and be present in their prayer and fellowship.
Or if you are looking to dive deeper into the faith journey, why not use this verse to lead a message about how peace is not the absence of conflict but confidence in God’s plan? Life will always be throwing curve balls at your congregation, and sometimes it can be easy for people to become lost in the chaos. A reassuring message about letting God lead them through the chaos might be just the message they need.
Sharing His Love
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matt 28:19 (The Bible)
As Christians, we are called to share the good Word with our communities and as far as our voices and actions can reach. This verse is a message about playing an active role in our religion, not a passive one, and has many layers that would make for an excellent sermon.
Discipleship involves teaching, mentoring, and walking alongside others. Take a moment and think about this single thought! This simple thought can lead to a sermon about teaching others about the Bible, a workshop about mentorship and being a leader to others, or a peaceful moment of community and intentional prayer for one another.
You can also use this verse to invite guest speakers (or even your congregation themselves!) to step up to the microphone. Talk about sharing your testimony with others, and how it can inspire people to learn more about the Bible, then invite members to share their own spiritual journey.
Relying on Commnunity
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25 (The Bible)
What better place to use this verse than when your congregation is gathered and living as a community?! This verse can encourage your congregation to connect with each other on a deeper level, both in and out of the conference setting. You can utilise it as a message about finding practical ways to encourage someone each day, or a workshop about holding each other accountable. This message isn’t just about caring and looking out for each other, but deeper than that it’s about challenging each other to grow in our faith.
Try highlighting a time where you were held accountable, or when you wished someone had held you accountable, talk about the ways someone in your own life helped you grow. Then split into smaller groups and discuss accountability and encouragement and the ways we can spur one another on towards love and good deeds (might be worth breaking out some paper and pens for this bit and get your congregation to write their ideas down!).
Or, focus in on the last part of this verse; “…and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” What does this mean to us as Christians? What does this mean for your congregation? How must we act when the Day is approaching?
